City of Glendale - Public Works |
You’re cleaning up after dinner, and with a simple flip of the faucet handle, clean and clear water pours into your sink. Later that night, you pull the trash container out to the curb, and magically, the next morning it’s empty and ready for you to fill again. These are just a few of the many services carried out by Glendale’s Public Works departments. Toiling away behind the scenes, the more than 600 employees of Public Works are striving hard to make sure you, the citizen, can go on with your day seamlessly.
The Public Works Group is composed of four departments, they are the Engineering, Field Operations, Transportation, and Utilities departments. The group has a total budget that accounts for approximately 34 percent of the total city-operating budget.
According to Ken Reedy, Deputy City Manager over Public Works, “Our group includes professional men and women who, 24 hours a day - 365 days a year, provide some of the most essential of city services to our citizens and customers. They are the unsung heroes of our society who serve the public good with quite dedication.”
