We hire for a wide range of recreation programs. Most of our positions are for summer work during our peak time of May through August. Applications are accepted in the areas of Aquatics, Sports and Youth/Teen programs.

Adult Sports Officials
Responsible adults are needed to officiate games in the upcoming season. Sports include softball, basketball, flag football and volleyball. A great way to stay in shape and keep involved in the game you enjoyed playing as a kid. Pay for this great part-time opportunity ranges from $12-18 per game. Training opportunities provided. WEEKEND SPORT FIELD/TOURNAMENT STAFF:

Job Summary: Performs routine customer service, manual labor, maintenance and repair work in regards to preparing sport fields for league and tournament play. Hours vary (maybe 10-20 per week) and includes weekends, evenings and holidays. $10.09 per hour. No benefits.
Essential Functions:
• Performs physical labor involving the use of hand and power tools
• Performs routine maintenance on tools and power equipment used to complete tasks
• Operates equipment and machines
• Marks and reconditions playing field and assists with set up for sports activities and special events
• Repairs backstops, bleachers, and dugout areas
• Responds to, and resolves citizen complaints pertaining to parks facilities
• Explains and enforces park policies and regulations to park patrons
• Notifies residents and businesses of work being performed; answer questions from citizens
• Maintain daily work records; may perform some computerized data entry work
• Transports and sets up supplies and equipment; makes required safety checks
• Ensures that reserved facilities are maintained in a safe, clean condition; check for permits
• Provides assistance in emergency situations; calls for police or medical assistance
• Monitors facilities and secures buildings after use by outside agencies
Knowledge of: Procedures, materials, tools and equipment used in area of assignment
Skill in: Use of hand and basic power tools such as shovels, pick axes, post hole diggers, rakes, brooms, water hoses etc. The use of riding maintenance equipment, painting equipment and field marking equipment.
Ability to: Follow oral and written instructions; deal courteously with the public; perform physical labor; establish effect working relationships with other City employees; adhere to city policies and procedures to maintain a safe playing facility for all participants; and represent the City of Glendale in appearance, professionalism and integrity.
Working Conditions: Work involves lifting, extensive walking, bending, standing; exposure to seasonal and inclement weather conditions. Work schedule includes weekend, evenings and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications and Special Requirements: Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities, is qualifying; CPR/AED certified prior to start of program; valid Arizona driver's license; and must have reliable transportation.

Summer Drop-In Recreation
Are you a creative, high-energy individual at least 16 years old and looking for a great summer job with weekends off?  Supervise children ages 6-12 in a variety of recreational activities at a neighborhood site. 

RECREATION ASSISTANT:
Requirements: Minimum age 16, First Aid/CPR certified prior to the start of the program.
Duties: Supervises youth at a school/recreation center. Conducts games, special events and other activities as assigned by the Site Programmer. Reports all accidents/incidents in a clear and concise manner, assists with special events, maintains site rules through the use of Progressive Discipline, insures the safety and cleanliness of the site. Represents the City of Glendale in appearance, professionalism and integrity. Follow all city policies and procedures. Must have reliable transportation.
Salary/Schedule: Starting $7.35 per hour, up to 40 hours per week .

RECREATION LEADER I:
Requirements: Age 18, 1-2 years recreation experience, First Aid/CPR certified prior to the start of the program.
Duties: Supervises youth at a school/recreation center. Directs a variety of games, crafts, special events, tournaments, and other activities as assigned. Reports all accidents/incidents in a clear and concise manner, promotes open communication with parents/guardians, enforces site rules through the use of Progressive Discipline steps, maintains and cares for school/site equipment and property, and follows all city policies and procedures. Recommends activities to the Site Programmer. Represents the City of Glendale in appearance, professionalism and integrity. Must have reliable transportation.
Salary: Starting $8.30 per hour, up to 40 hours per week

RECREATION LEADER II:
Requirements: Age 19, 2-3 years recreation experience, First Aid/CPR certified prior to the start of the program.
Duties: A hands-on staff person who assists in the planning of activities, reports all accidents/incidents in a clear and concise manner, directs and instructs a full range of recreational activities at a school/recreation center site. Recommends program planning ideas to Site Programmer and enforces site rules by using Progressive Discipline steps. Adheres to city policies and procedures to maintain a safe site for all participants. Represents the City of Glendale in appearance, professionalism and integrity. Must have reliable transportation.
Salary: Starting $10.10 per hour, up to 40 hours per week

RECREATION LEADER III:
Requirements: Age 20, minimum 3 years recreation experience, First Aid/CPR certified prior to the start of the program.
Duties:  Under the direction of the Site Programmer, a front line staff who assists in the supervision of support staff, site programming and planning. Directs and instructs a full range of recreational activities at a school or recreation center site and fulfills the duties of the Site Programmer during absences. Assists in daily paperwork, weekly schedules, and recommends program planning ideas to Site Programmer. Follows Progressive Discipline steps, adheres to city policies and procedures to maintain a safe site for all participants. Represents the City of Glendale in appearance, professionalism and integrity. Must have reliable transportation.
Salary: Starting $11.52 per hour, up to 40 hours per week

RECREATION SITE PROGRAMMER:
Requirements: Completion of at least 60 semester hours of college course work and four years of recreation experience; or a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation or related/similar field; or a Bachelor's Degree and one year of teaching experience. First Aid/CPR certified prior to the start of the program.
Duties: Performs professional, recreational and supervisory work in directing the activities of a school/recreation center/site. Manages and directs all activities, weekly planning, site schedules, special events, prepares daily/weekly reports, acts as a contact person for parents and site administration, assists with the marketing and recruitment of participants, handles all finances, attends staff meetings, assures facilities and equipment are in safe working order, monitors program needs, supervises, evaluates and trains site staff, acts as a liaison between school administration and the Recreation office, and all other duties as assigned. Represent the City of Glendale in appearance, professionalism and integrity. This is a front line, hands-on staff position. Must have reliable transportation to sites, staff meetings and special events.
Salary:  Starting $13.59 per hour, up to 40 hours per week
