ASL Interpreters
The Library requires 5 business days advance notice to insure the services of an American Sign Language Interpreter for Library events and programs. Computer screen magnification available on library computers

JAWS is a screen reader program for low vision and blind users, it allows users to
access any function on the computer screen and reads the text aloud.

MAGic is a magnification and speech program for low vision users. MAGic allows
the user to magnify the screen up to 16 times the original size and “talks” to the
user in repeating commands to help navigate the screen.

ZoomText is a magnification and speech program for low vision users and
magnifies the text on computer screens and can read text aloud.

Copiers
All copiers have enlargement capabilities and are located in the adult and youth service areas at the three Glendale libraries.

Desktop text magnification
Aladdin Rainbow allows users to magnify the text of books, magazines and newspapers.

Magnifying lenses
Magnifying lenses are located at the reference desks at all three libraries and are for in library use only.

Talking Book Program
The Glendale Public Library partners with the Arizona State Library’s Braille and Talking Book Library in providing playback equipment to individuals who meet the eligibility criteria of the National Library Service. Services are available to persons who cannot hold, handle or read conventional printed material because of a visual or physical disability. There is no charge for the service and interested persons may contact the library for an application for service. Also get more information at the Braille and Talking Book Library.

TDD phone
The Main Library Adult Services area receives TDD calls at 623-842-3760. Library customers may also use the TTD phone at the reference desk.

Videophone
The videophone unit consists of a camera and a 15" TV to allow deaf or hard of hearing persons to sign directly to another deaf or hard of hearing individual who also has a videophone. Users may also use an interpreter through the Video Relay Service who speaks into a conventional phone. A remote control allows the user to call the relay service or choose manual dial and use keys on the remote to enter another videophone number. The videophone is only located at the Main Library Reference Desk.

Wheelchair accessible computers
Wheelchair-accessible computer workstations are available at all three Glendale libraries.
