Temporary Energy Education Specialist

HIRING RANGE:   $14.00 per hour

NOTE: This position is part-time, temporary and does not include benefits.

JOB ELEMENTS INCLUDE:

  • Uses communication, public relations and project management skills to develop and market the city of Glendale’s comprehensive energy education program.
  • Communicates the goals and objectives of the city of Glendale’s energy education program to the general public, local organizations, and other City employees.
  • Responds to public inquiries and telephone requests from citizens for information on energy efficiency and conservation.
  • Coordinates speakers to provide energy efficiency and conservation workshops and presentations for the public.
  • Provides energy education presentations for Glendale elementary schools.
  • Coordinates development of grade-appropriate curriculum materials and assembly of energy conservation toolkits for distribution to Glendale elementary schools.
  • Provides energy education trainings for Glendale elementary school teachers.
  • Depending on assignment, assists in the production and distribution of public awareness materials, communicates with the media, and assists with surveys and other related program marketing strategies.
  • Maintains databases and records to calculate, prepare, and present data in written and oral presentations.  Assists with monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the energy education program.
  • Research and prepares reports for assigned programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Education, Public Relations, Communication, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field and one year experience working in environmental conservation, public education, or specialized management of natural resources.  Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in public outreach and education.  Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, is qualifying. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Arizona driver’s license required upon hire.
Must be available to work several evenings and/or Saturdays each month.
