REGISTRATION DEADLINE EXTENDED
FOR WEST VALLEY RESIDENTS TO ATTEND
CANDIDATE OPEN HOUSE ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 17
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The registration deadline for West Valley residents to attend the upcoming Candidate Open House has been extended to Thursday, Aug. 15.
Citizens are invited to meet and discuss issues of interest one-on-one with candidates representing U.S. Congressional Districts 2 and 4 and Arizona Legislative Districts 4, 9, 10, 12, 13 and 14 between 8 - 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 17 at Midwestern University's Agave Hall, 19555 N. 59th Ave.
"We have received such an outstanding response from the candidates who will be participating at the open house that we want to let as many residents as possible attend this event," said Glendale Mayor Elaine Scruggs.
Forty-six candidates who are seeking office in two congressional and six legislative districts in Glendale and the West Valley will be participating in the open house. They are:

Each candidate will have informational literature at their booth and will be available to answer residents' questions one-on-one.
Registration is required to attend the Candidate Open House. Glendale has created a special Web site for residents to RSVP online at www.glendaleaz.com/CommunityConversations. If unable to RSVP online, please call (623) 930-2259.
All attendees who register will receive an informational booklet on the candidates. In addition, the first 500 registered guests will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win prizes.
The Candidate Open House is being held as part of Mayor Scruggs' new Community Conversations program to inform and engage residents on important local and regional topics.
The open house is being hosted by Scruggs and Midwestern University President and CEO Kathleen Goeppinger as a public service to provide citizens the opportunity to meet and learn more about the legislative and congressional candidates representing the West Valley. The open house is for informational purposes only and does not imply endorsement of any candidates by the city of Glendale or Midwestern University.
Event sponsors include Midwestern University, Salt River Project, Arizona Public Service, the Glendale Chapter's of the Fraternal Order of Police and United Phoenix Firefighters Association-Local 493 and the Office of the Mayor.
