Community Partnerships - Community Revitalization
About Us The primary goal of the Community Revitalization Division is to provide affordable housing and housing rehabilitation assistance for eligible Glendale residents, which fosters a sense of pride in the community as well as enriches the quality of life for all Glendale residents. In addition, it oversees the City’s community development concerns. The division achieves its housing and community development goals through the administration of the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG) programs. CDBG funding provides support for public services, improvements to public facilities and infrastructure, and various other community development activities. HOME funding allows the division to provide housing rehabilitation and infill housing programs for the preservation of the city’s existing housing stock and the generation of new housing. ESG funds provide the resources to support homeless prevention and emergency shelter activities. The City of Glendale has received more than $53 million in CDBG, HOME, and ESG since FY1977-78, which has helped thousands of citizens and leveraged millions in additional funds. These federal programs enable the Community Revitalization Division to produce valuable public services, improved neighborhood conditions, homeownership opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals and families, and increased access to safe, decent, and sanitary housing. All the programs of Community Revitalization improve the clients’ quality of life.

	Your Input Requested for the Analysis of Impediments Study The city would like your input on any impediments or any barriers that you experience, which could affect your right to fair housing choice. Impediments to fair housing choice are defined as any actions, omissions, or decisions that restrict, or have the effect of restricting, the availability of housing choices, based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. Glendale is committed to fair housing practices and is currently undertaking a study on-line to ensure it is doing all that it can to eliminate barriers to fair housing. 	Introducing the Glendale Homebuyers Assistance Program The city is using $278,326 in federal dollars provided through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) to fund the “Glendale Homebuyers Assistance Program.” The Homebuyers Assistance Program is designed to provide Glendale residents with the opportunity to acquire and rehabilitate (if necessary) abandoned/foreclosed homes. 	First-Time Home Buyers May Qualify For A Down Payment Assistance Loan If you are a first-time homebuyer, who plans to purchase a home anywhere within the city limits of Glendale, you may be eligible for the American Dream Down payment Initiative (ADDI) program and loan up to $10,000. Read more

	Low-Income Families May Be Eligible For Repairs On Existing AC/ Units or EVAP Coolers The city of Glendale utilizes federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to provide much-needed emergency repair assistance to qualified, low-income families and elderly who are Glendale residents. Some of the most requested calls for service during the summer months include repairs to existing air conditioning or evaporative coolers. Read more

	Glendale's Green House Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona (HFHCAZ) built its first Platinum Level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified home in Glendale.
