The Community Housing Division is responsible for addressing the rental housing needs of Glendale residents who cannot afford housing in the private market.  Through the administration of a federal Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program and a Conventional Public Housing program, the division helps eligible residents to secure safe, decent and sanitary housing.

For the 16th consecutive year, Glendale’s Community Housing Division has been rated as a high performer by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Fiscal Year ending June 2009.

GLENDALE’S SECTION 8 HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS ON DATES LISTED BELOW

The Community Housing Division is accepting applications by telephone only for the Section 8 voucher program on the following six dates: Aug. 31, Sept. 2, Sept. 7, Sept. 9, Sept. 14, Sept. 16. For detailed information on incomes guidelines and how to use our telephone application system, click here.

 

Public Housing:

  • Glendale Community Housing owns and operates 155 public housing units. To learn more about the program, eligibility requirements and the application process, click here.

  • Wait List Changes - If you have applied for the program and are currently on the wait list for public housing assistance and have a change to report, click here for the Waiting List Applicant Change Report Form.

Glendale’s Community Housing Division earns high performer status
For the 16th consecutive year, Glendale’s Community Housing Division has been rated as a high performer by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Fiscal Year ending June 2009.

HUD evaluates public housing program success based on a thorough review of all aspects of program administration including financial and program management, property condition, and resident satisfaction.

Glendale’s Community Housing Division manages 155 apartment homes in three rental communities, offering low income families safe, sanitary, decent, and affordable housing.

Community Housing Plans

As required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the City of Glendale Community Housing Division (CHD) is required to have an Agency Plan and to update it yearly. The Plan consists of the Five-Year and Annual Plan for the housing authority, the Public Housing Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy (ACOP), and the Section 8 Administrative Plan.
