 Councilmember Yvonne Knaack was elected in November 2006 to represent the Barrel District and was re-elected and began her second term in January 2011. She is dedicated to maintaining and improving Glendale neighborhoods. She has worked and owned a business in Glendale since 1970 and has been a resident since 1984. Currently, she is also an agent for State Farm Insurance with a Chartered Life Underwriter designation.
Councilmember Knaack is on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association (AMWUA) representing Glendale’s water interests. She is also Chair of the Glendale Sustainability Subcommittee working toward green initiatives for city processes and has previously served as a member of the Code Review Committee.
Councilmember Knaack attended Northern Arizona University, Phoenix College and Glendale Community College. She has been active in many civic organizations and is currently serving on the boards of the Salvation Army, YMCA and Glendale Kiwanis Club. She is a member of the Copperwood Elementary School Site Council and was the 2005 Chairman of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce. Prior to becoming a councilmember she served as Vice-Chair of the Board of Adjustments, as a member of the Risk Management and Workers’ Compensation Trust Fund Board and the Glendale Rental Improvement Taskforce. Additionally, Councilmember Knaack is a member of the Arizona Town Hall and the State Farm Arizona Legislative Action Committee.
Councilmember Knaack and her husband, David, have four daughters and four grandchildren.
